2018 Ahimsa Yoga and Music festival

The ragas of North India have a powerful application for meditation, as they clear the mind of the “daily noise” and create the optimal setting for deep practice. When they are performed at the proper time of day, their effect is amplified. We will begin this class with a meditation on the sound of the tanpura, and sing together the basic phrases of a morning raga. Tomek will then perform a full expression of this raga on sitar. The class will end in silent meditation.
